Weighing less than a premature baby at under a kilogram, this very pretty netbook occupies mere 6.7 x 9.8 x 1.1 inches in real estate.
Resembling a handbook in size and shape, Aspire One has a very glossy, mirror-like mid-night blue top (comes in other colours too). The glass-like finish spreads right up to the display screen and the bezel around it. Personally I did not like the glass finish spreading over Acer BTP-APJ1 Battery the screen as it catches reflections of your face and all shiny objects behind you in bright light.
An almost full size keyboard (84 keys) occupies most of the main body of the netbook leaving very little space for the touch pad and the left and right click buttons, leave alone the palm-rest. The keypad is well laid out and I loved the tactical feedback of the keys. However, I have issues with the mouse click buttons. They are so tiny that you will require a long time to get used to them. It also supports the wireless LAN (802.11 b/g) to connect to the WiFi network.

Suit over China's Web filter to target Acer
A U.S. company will seek legal action against Lenovo, Acer Laptop Battery and Sony next week over their shipment in China of controversial software that the company says stole its programming code.
Solid Oak Software may also take action against other PC makers that have started shipping the software, a company spokeswoman said in an e-mail late Thursday. She declined to give details of the action, but the company previously said it might seek a U.S. court injunction to stop PC vendors from shipping the program.
The software, an Internet filtering tool that blocks pornographic and political content, copied files from Solid Oak's own Internet content control product, according to the Acer TravelMate 2300 Battery company.
In recent weeks China ordered domestic and foreign PC makers to bundle the software, called Green Dam Youth Escort, with all computers sold in the country. It postponed the requirement just hours before the original deadline this week, but said it did so only because PC makers needed more time to ship the program.
Lenovo, Acer Aspire 1680 Battery and Sony have all started shipping the program despite the postponement. Lenovo is providing Green Dam pre-installed or on an enclosed disc for most of its computers that support the program, a spokeswoman said.
Sony is including a setup file for Green Dam on its machines that users can choose to activate or remove, a company spokeswoman said. An Acer Aspire 1410 Battery representative confirmed the company is also including the program with new machines.
Acer and Lenovo were the world's third- and fourth-largest PC vendors in the final quarter last year, according to IDC.

How Big is Too Big for a Netbook?
The two most attractive Acer Laptop Battery netbook features are price and size, at least according to the reports from customer surveys. People like the small size and smaller price compared to a regular laptop. So how big can a netbook be and still be a netbook? A new review on TechReport, Aspire One Laptop Battery vs. Gateway LT3103 covers the two devices in depth, and the reviewer loves the larger size. Is size what makes a netbook, or something else?
Both units fall under the Acer umbrella and thus are siblings. Processors differ, which leads to uneven performance. But the reviewer most likes the larger, 11.6 inch screens, with resolutions of 1366x768. This compares to a typical 10.1 inch netbook Acer BATCL50L Battery screen with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels.
Yet we pay the price for a larger screen with a much larger case depth. My HP 2140 screen is 10.1 inches, meaning the case depth is about six inches. This fits quite well on an airplane tray table with room to open the lid far enough to get a good view of the screen. If the person in the seat in front of me leans back, there's room for my netbook. With many laptops, if the person in front leans back, your laptop case can get squished and even broken.
Perhaps the Acer/Gateway netbooks with the 11.6 inch screen won't get squished, but they might. Their case is eight inches deep, and the format looks much more like a typical small laptop Acer TravelMate 290 Battery than a netbook.
I want to get hold of one or both of these units soon and see what they feel like in normal use. Will the roughly 8x6 HP 2140 case feel slightly smaller than the Acer TravelMate 4000 Battery 11x8 case, or considerably smaller? Will my friend Lisa believe the larger units are purse-worthy, or stick with her 10.1 inch screen?

Acer Mini 1000 Notebook PC Review
With all the netbooks Laptop Battery on the market in the last year or so, it almost makes a person wonder if the days of full-sized notebooks are numbered. Considering the economy the way it is, people are looking for a bargain and these little netbooks sure can provide one. I have been using an MSI Wind Netbook lately, but my true love was the Acer 2133 Mini-Note that I reviewed last year. I loved its metal shell, 8.9 inch 1280 x 786 display and keyboard. The only issue with it was the fact that it came with Vista installed, ran warm and didn’t have the more efficient Atom processor. Now it’s several months later and we have the Acer Laptop Battery. Let’s see if if is good enough to make me dump the MSI Wind as my travel computer.
The Mini 1000’s footprint is nearly identical to that of the earlier Acer 2133 Mini-Note PC, measuring slightly wider and thinner. It’s also a little lighter, thanks to the switch from aluminum to plastic. Netbooks are designed with price and portability in mind, so they’re usually not the fanciest designs to come out of a PC maker’s lab. While an aluminum chassis is generally preferred to one made from plastic, the switch to plastic here makes sense because every penny and ounce counts. Overall, we appreciate the Acer BTP-43D1 Battery’s efficient and attractive layout–there’s hardly any dead space on the keyboard tray.
Acer doesn’t offer only a Windows version of the dell inspiron 6400 battery. The Linu…sorry, Acer…the Mobile Internet Experience version of the Acer Mini 1000 is due to come out in January with a tiny 8GB or 16GB flash drive. That interface, while it looks fairly fresh, is still very much in a beta stage, so I’ll reserve comment for now, but the initial demos show a very frosty–dare I say, “Vista-ish”?–interface. The MIE version of the Acer TravelMate 220 Battery will cost about $380.
And probably the flashiest mini-note to date, set to arrive by mid-December, is a customized red take on the Mini designed by Vivienne Tam. The Asian-themed model comes with painted trees on the lid and a “Double Happiness” enter key. Umm, yeah. And proof that you can put a price on Double Happiness: You’re paying $700 for the privilege of rocking this pret-a-computer.
The BrightView Infinity panel on the 10.2″ Mini 1000 model has very good color and contrast, but at the cost of being overly reflective in anything but a dark room. This Acer BTP-58A1 Battery style of screen is becoming more common on multimedia notebooks, but on a netbook which might be used while traveling or outside it adds a level of annoyance that is hard to overcome. Black levels are good in the optimal viewing range, fading slightly to a light grey as you tilt the screen closer or farther away. Backlight intensity is strong to be viewable outside but easily overcome by glare from the Infinity panel. Viewing angles rate average, with an acceptable viewing sweet spot before colors start to invert. Horizontal viewing angles are better, but at the steeper angles the screen fades out and all you see is the reflection of the surrounding area.
Looking at the right side of the acer BTP-60A1 Battery you first notice an embedded 5-in-1 multimedia-card reader. Above this multimedia-card reader you will notice 5 slits, probably to transport some heat out of the Acer Mini 1000. The 5-in-1 multimedia-card reader holds a Transcend 16 GB class 6 SDHC card, on which I keep some personal data on an encrypted partition and use it for locally backing-up important documents. The 60 GB harddisk however provides enough space to load the neccesary software on the Acer TravelMate 240 Battery.
Second there is one USB 2.0 port on the right side, to connect a printer or removable storage drive. In addition you can see a dell latitude c800 battery removable lid, which is to connect the Acer Mini Mobile Drive if you own the Acer Mini 1000 in an SSD-configuration. With the Acer Mini Mobile Drive you can plug-in additional storage in addition to the build-in SSD. If I’m informed correctly, the HDD-configurations don’t have the needed connections on the mainboard to use this functionality. And honeslty with the use of the 5-in-1 multimedicard reader it would be a little over the top.
While most folks will apparently have to wait at least a few more weeks to get their hands on a six-cell acer aspire one battery, Xavier Lanier of Acer BTP-52EW Battery was able to snag one a tad early and, whilst he was showing off the stash of gadgets hidden in his Scott eVest, he gave everyone a little glimpse of it. As you can sort of see above, it expectedly adds a bit of bulk to the otherwise slim Mini 1000.
With the included three-cell battery, the Mini 1000 lasted 2 hours and 21 minutes playing back an MPEG-4 movie. Although lighter usage, such as writing and browsing the Web, stretched that to around 2 hours and 40 minutes, road warriors will definitely want to consider the upcoming six-cell battery option.The Mini uses standard Windows power profiles to manage power; there’s no power-management utility to toggle the processor manually to a slower speed to save battery life, as you find on most other Atom netbooks.
Acer’s MediaStyle, which is reminiscent of Windows Media Center and/or Acer BTP-63D1 Battery Front Row, is a very basic media player. Video and music playback were consistent and simple enough. The speaker strip, which is built into the metal hinge, produced surprisingly loud sound when we played music from the main screen. With our model packing a 60GB (spinning) hard drive–SSD options up to 16GB are available–fitting in a movie or two, and a handful of songs didn’t bog down the system at all.
I’ll speculate that had SYSmark been able to run, the dell inspiron 6400 battery would probably have fallen behind on that test because of the slower hard drive. Its performance seemed typical of netbooks—fine for light-duty office and Internet tasks. Its MobileMark score, however, was the most impressive among its rivals despite the use of a small (three-cell) 26-Wh battery. Its time of 2 hours 58 minutes is at least a half hour longer than the Wind’s and the S10’s. As with the Wind and the One, an optional six-cell battery should bring battery life past the 4-hour range, but it won’t be available until later this year.
In the netbook hackintoshing world, the Acer BTP-42C1 Battery is one of the more difficult to transform into a Mini Mac. Boing Boing has created a good chart detailing what has been accomplished on each of the netbooks. The short of it is that the MSI Wind and Dell Mini 9 are both completely transformable where as the Mini 1000 still needs the audio and ethernet drivers to be developed (although I believe the ethernet issue has been overcome). Neither issue was a deal killer for me. I would much prefer the Mini 1000 (or Mini-Note) as a piece of hardware versus any of the other netbooks.
Acer’s Mini 1000 is a superb netbook. If you’re fine with getting three hours on a charge, its great looks, capable specs and excellent keyboard make it a 2.38 lb ultraportable you’ll actually enjoy using.
If you do plan to spend time away from the mains, its 3-cell battery is a critical flaw. You won’t get a morning of work out of it, let alone a day. (Update: Acer wrote in to say a 6-cell acer BTP-44A3 Battery will be offered in January)
This is a shame, because in other respects the Mini 1000 is excellent.
Fundamentally a standard 10″ netbook running Windows XP on a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, it has 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, bluetooth, WiFi-g and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. It’s the aesthetics that make it.
On the software front, that is basically the bloatware that is installed on all laptops, Acer BTP-550P Battery has been spared much of it. It comes pre-installed with Microsoft Works, AIM 6 and Acer Wireless Assistant sotwares which is just a fraction of what usually comes installed. Sadly, Windows is the only choice of operating system that you get. With a single GB of RAM, Vista would be sluggish, but any flavor of Linux would zip through.
Compared with the U120, which is 10.2 inches wide, the dell latitude d600 series battery makes better use of its keyboard deck: the keyboard, 92 percent the size of a mainstream one, stretches from edge to edge with no extra room on the sides, and the keys look larger, too; they had a pleasantly springy feel and soft finish.
As did the Mini 1000, the Mini 1000 Mi loses design points for the touch buttons awkwardly flanking the toucAcerad. Even after considerable hands-on time, they remained cumbersome. Although imperfect in its own way, even Sony’s decision to forgo the trackpad on the VAIO P for a trackball was more sensible. At least the Acer BTP-73E1 Battery’s buttons themselves have a soft finish and give good tactile feedback. A handy scrolling strip is on the toucAcerad, which was responsive, if a bit too sensitive. -

Apple is powered by Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor which runs at a speed of 2.16GHz and comes with a built-in 1MB Cache memory. The processor is fast enough to run Genuine Windows Vista Premium effortlessly and without slowing down the performance at any stage. In addition to the Cache memory, the available 3GB memory enables the machine to perform multi tasks faster Apple PowerBook G4 Battery and without any problem.
Opening the notebook up is even worse, since aside from the notebook’s sides, keyboard and touchpad every visible inch is glossy black. While this shiny finish looks attractive, every time you type or use the touchpad your notebook will display streaks and prints. There’s not even any kind of pattern à la Toshiba A350-11N or HP HDX 16 to somewhat disguise this effect. After just a day in the office, the Apple PowerBook G4 15inch Battery looked like it had been sitting out for a week. The Apple (iG4-USE010ST) ($699.98 list) has very few amenities for a laptop, but it meets two of the most basic laptop requirements: its screen and hard drive are large enough to handle the gamut of multimedia tasks. It’s Intel Pentium branded processor lags behind the mainstream Core 2 Duos, so it isn’t exactly a speed demon, but you won’t hear a peep from frugal shoppers. Be watchful, though, of two almost identical versions found in Staples. The Apple A1012 Battery is the better deal, as it gives you 4GB of memory for $649.98 (list). Although this version comes with less memory (3GB), it adds a different color and 64-bit Windows, along with bundled Microsoft Home and Student. Otherwise, every other part is identical, but is it worth the extra $50?
This laptop does everything I need it to do. It took a while for ME to make the transition to Vista, but I’m perfectly satisfied with it. After trying mine, at least two other people have purchased Apple 15 series laptops.
Home users are increasingly turning to notebook computers as their primary PCs, as they like that laptops can offer similar performance and features to those of a desktop PC, and can be easily moved from room to room. Clearly not aimed at gamers, the G4’s integrated Intel GMA X4500HD graphics will unsurprisingly struggle to play the latest titles.
The price for the Apple A1078 Battery isn’t a bad price actually I would call it a bargain even with the slow and poor performance. You can easily get your hands on the Apple battery for about $650. It has a lot of memory 4 GB to be exact. There is enough memory to last you. If you are constantly typing, you will have a great experience. In which because of this reason makes it a great laptop for someone who is student or someone for college. Even if you are seeking to replace that desktop that takes up a lot of the desk place this can be one to replace that desktop with. Navigating with the Apple A1148 Battery is very easy as well. You will also enjoy viewing photos of family and friends as well as watching movies on the 15.6 inch widescreen display. The battery life span isn’t bad but not so great. The standard battery that comes with the Apple 1525 battery only last you for 3 ½ hours. In my opinion this isn’t very much time but isn’t so bad I have seen worst. I would recommend upgrading the battery to a higher one if you tend to do some traveling with your new Apple iG4. It comes with a Intel Pentium T4200 with the speed of 2GHz. It’s not the fastest and not the slowest processor. It is not a speed demon but it can handle general purpose task that can take you through your day.
However for a better value for money deal we recommend considering the Apple G4 T6400 which comes with a superior Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6400 and a whopping 320GB Hard Disk.

While the design is plain, the build quality is up to the same standard as the X59GL. We’re not huge fans of the keyboard, as key travel isn’t as deep as we’d like. We like Apple’s placement of the Ctrl key to the left of the Fn key, but we were shocked that you have to press the Fn key to use the numbered function keys, as their main functions are multimedia controls such as volume or brightness. (Apple Latitude D630 battery , Apple M6091 Battery) Fortunately, you can select a ‘normal’ function key mode in the BIOS. The BIOS is a Windows-style affair with plenty of help text that is actually useful for the average user.
The G4 is a good-looking laptop and will suit anyone who is on a tight budget. However Asus’s X59GL, though not quite as fast, has a two-year collect-and-return warranty (compared to the G4’s one year), more expansion ports and slightly better battery life. These factors combine to prevent the taking the Budget Buy award. -
